Then came the talk by Platzi’s two founders, Cristian Van Der Hents and Fredy Vega, with a conversation on technology that was incredibly enriching as they shared their experiences as entrepreneurs in a very natural way and how they’ve managed to focus their ideas to push the Platzi project forward.

They spoke about the challenges they’ve faced and how, like many of us, they sometimes get distracted by the many things happening around them. However, they are aware of this and take conscious steps to channel their energy and make the most out of each day.

From Cristian’s experience, it was especially interesting to learn how he creates his own intelligent agents to help him gather information from the web. He also discussed the importance of protecting one’s digital identity and he shared insights on how, in the future, intelligent agents may be granted legal recognition.

During the audience Q&A session, one of the participants—a boy just 10 years old—asked a question to Cristian who responded by saying that young people should definitely be encouraged to start learning early, but it’s also important that they live through each stage of life. He emphasized that parents should push their children a bit more—but in a constructive way.

In his response, he highlighted how, in Latin American culture, we often reward participation rather than preparation to win. There’s a tendency to celebrate simply passing the school year—even if it’s barely—or to give rewards just for getting a good grade, instead of fostering the discipline needed to develop a person’s full potential, as is more commonly emphasized in countries like China or Taiwan.
